The Hal and Charlie Peterson Foundation, originally endowed by the Peterson Brothers has over the years received contributions from the general public in amounts ranging from $5 to a bequest of over $1.6 million.  Unrestricted contributions are applied to the Permanent Investment Fund which is separate from the Peterson legacy but an equal partner in funding requests from local organizations.  In addition there are donor funds administered by the Foundation which have funding restrictions.  The Edward Galbraith Trust and the Florence Galbraith Trust provides assistance to uninsured patients of Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital with their hospital bills.  These Trusts will be paid over to another charity in 2007 and 2008 in accordance with the Trust terms.  The John and Emma Lapham Endowment assists student nurses with costs of their education as does the Frank and Blanche Landers Memorial Fund.  The Randall and Sonja Johnson Fund provides an annual contribution to the Kerr County United Way.  The Reese Johnson Fund contributes annually to Any Baby Can.  The Mosty Endowment provides funds to the Salvation Army and Raphael Community Free Clinic for needy children to assist with school supplies and other necessary costs of attending public schools in Kerr County.

The Hal and Charlie Peterson Foundation is a tax exempt foundation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Contributions are deductible to the extent allowed by law.  Contributors may contact the Foundation office for guidance, but are encouraged to seek advice from their attorney or tax advisor.
