APPLICATION PROCESS

There is a review process in which staff personnel determine whether an application falls within the current interests and requirements of the Foundation.  After an organization is so qualified, the application is reviewed by the Board of Trustees who make the final determination of approval or disapproval of a grant application.  Listed below are the most frequent questions that have arisen during the review and consideration process which resulted in a denial or reduction in funding of an application:

FAQ

Who does the Foundation fund?

The Foundation must be provided with documentary proof that the applicant organization is a Public Charity as defined in Sections 501(c)(3), 509(a), and 170(b)(c) of the Internal Revenue Code.  No application will be favorably considered without this documentation from the Internal Revenue Service.

Are there geographical limitations for your grant applications?

The Foundation will consider grants in Kerr and adjacent counties in Texas for any charitable or educational purpose.  State or National organizations must have an active local unit in the qualifying area which is to be the primary applicant.  In order for the local unit to receive the grant funding, the applicant should be prepared to show that the grant funds will be spent so as to benefit their charitable purpose in Kerr and/or adjacent counties.

Can one apply for a grant on line?

No.  Inasmuch as the Foundation restricts grant making to local organizations, we prefer a more personal approach to the process.  Qualified organizations are encouraged to apply directly to our office during which our staff can advise and assist the applicant with the application process while obtaining preliminary information which will assist the Foundation with planning for grant funding.  Each organization will apply on our form which will assure that the process is uniform to all the applicants.
